Mt. Rose Health Center, located in Trinidad, Colorado, opened its doors in June 2013 with the purpose of providing skillful, compassionate and comprehensive care to the people of Las Animas and Huerfano counties.

The center is led by Dr. Valerie Borsa, who is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This broad base of experience and knowledge provides the opportunity for everyone in Trinidad and surrounding areas to obtain superior health care locally.

Mt. Rose Health Center emphasizes preventative care and ongoing wellness as the best ways to achieve optimum health. The center is also able to treat both acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, COPD, cancer and kidney disease. This includes the use of palliative care, which works to ease pain, manage symptoms and promote comfort. Dr. Borsa has extensive connections with other healthcare professionals throughout the state and often collaborates with them to manage and treat complex conditions, when appropriate.

For those who are facing a life-limiting illness, Mt. Rose has expanded its services to include hospice care. Hospice care is a holistic approach to life enhancement through pain control and symptom management. Its primary goal is to enhance the lives of those living with a terminal illness by focusing on a patient’s comfort and providing the emotional and spiritual support needed to make a peaceful transition from life to death.

Today, Mt. Rose Health Center, Palliative Care and Hospice works to serve as an advocate for all of its patients while navigating the healthcare system. Our primary goal is to help our patients lead lives of purpose and joy, no matter what challenges they face.
